Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) - Service Standards

As part of the DBS's commitment to service, they aim to issue:

90% of Enhanced checks within four weeks of receiving a completed application
95% of Standard checks within two weeks of receiving a completed application
Please consider the above prior to application.

Please note a DBS check may be delayed if:

1. The application is completed incorrectly.

2. All mandatory fields are not filled in.

3. Proof of complete name history is not provided.

4. Proof of complete five year address history is not provided.

When applying for an Enhanced DBS check, the DBS is required to consult the police for any relevant, locally held information about the candidate. The DBS, as a minimum, will contact each police force for each area the candidate has lived in over the past five years.

Enhanced DBS Check applications are processed by Centrally based in Northampton, Northamptonshire, East Midlands, UK.
